Warpfest
This is a simple project that I've made as a work sample for a school called FutureGames. It's a 2D platformer with a unique teleport mechanic.
In the game, you control an adventurer who uses a portable teleport to traverse through the land. This teleport can b thrown to reach faraway areas and pass through ticky obstacles. The whole experience should take about 20 minutes to complete - although, if that's not enough for you, there are 3 collectible keys to find in the game world to unlock a special, nearly impossible final challenge.
The game is still more or less in the prototype stage, so a lot of animations and graphics are still missing and there's plenty of bugs (the teleporter sometimes gets stuck in the level geometry), but I think it's still worth to play - I'm pretty sure you've never played a game quite like this :)
Controls:
AD/Arrow keys – move left and right
Left Mouse Button – throw the teleport
Right Mouse Button – teleport to the thrown object
Spacebar – jump (walljump if the player is pressing against the wall)
Z – recall the thrown teleport
R – return to the last checkpoint
Assets used:
“Adventure Character 16x16 Pack 2”,
"Items and Traps 16x16 pixel”
“15 Pixel Blob TileMap Platformer 16x16”
all made by BDragon1727. Here's their itch.io page:
